The focus of Zimmrmann's Souvenir series is on the cognitive knowledge of the cultural power of definition of visual image practices. Each Souvenir sculpture has its own personality. The unusual shapes, coated in glossy bright colours, radiate playfulness. In Souvenir 3, the familiar video game character Pac-Man, invented by Bandai Namco comes to mind, whereas Souvenir 2, conjures the movie Jaws.

Throughout his artistic production, Zimmermann negotiated with the paradigms of traditional visual systems. He is also known for digitally manipulating different sources until they are no longer representative of their original form, in a continuous reinterpretation of shapes, spaces and colours. His pieces are delightfully engaging, and both viewer and environment respond actively to their presence.
