Wells’ observant eye studies the human anatomy with their muscular features in detail, allowing her to masterfully sculpt a person’s body.

Wells’ sculpture Narcissus refers to Ovid’s story, where a river god fathered a son with a nymph named Liriope.  The child turned into a beautiful young man who became self- obsessed.  What would a today, Narcissus, be like? Would he be an influencer with an extensive followship, presenting himself in countless poses  on Instagram,  Tik-Tok and other social media platforms?  However, Wells’ verdigris-patinated Narcissus, fulfils Ovid’s vision as the sculpture hangs over water, his image reflecting at him. The sculpture also acts as a warning about the dangers of becoming obsessed with someone else — or with oneself!

Teresa Wells is a highly acclaimed, award-winning sculptor. A member of the Royal Society of Sculptors (MRSS). Her first degree was in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University then an MA from Loughborough University under the guidance of John Atkin FRSS.
