WAYS OF SEEING
Waltham Forest, London's first Borough of Culture made a bold move when it engaged in an innovative arts project with the aim of displaying paintings, sculptures, time-based media installations and works on paper at schools, leisure centres, a hospital and a riding lodge located within the borough. We are delighted to announce that Renée Pfister Art & Gallery Consultancy was engaged to advise the Government Art Collection and Waltham Forest Council on insurance and installation issues as well as Health & Safety and emergency planning as part of the delivery of this exciting programme.
Traditionally the collection of the Government Art Collection is exhibited at Embassies and High Commissions around the world. In this instance an exception was made and sixty-three artworks were lent to twenty-eight venues across the Borough of Waltham Forest.
Arts Minister Michael Ellis said: "The Government Art Collection promotes the best of Britain to the world. The work on display in Waltham Forest has been chosen to reflect the diversity and creativity of the area. I am delighted that we can share these important cultural assets as we mark the first London Borough of Culture."

EMERGING PATTERNS - SAM HODGE - ARTIST IN FOCUS - MAY 2019
Patterns of growth and disintegration are the focus of Sam Hodge’s work with paint and print. Materials are constantly morphing, and new forms emerge from simple physical processes such as erosion, compression, fracture and flow – repeated and complex - but always different. Her depictions are like poems attempting to stir our imagination and emotions, reflecting on life's uncertainty and creating new meaning. Hodge is interested in our response to the shifting and unstable nature of our material world, our attempts to understand, control, collect and endow matter with significance.
